Add this to the list entitled “Songs I Hope They’ll One Day Have at Karaoke But I’m Almost Certain They Never Will Until We Open the Chrance Karaoke Bar and Add It Ourselves”. There are certain songs that, if they haven’t been added yet, ain’t ever going to happen.
I occasionally do some other Cure songs at karaoke. “Just Like Heaven” and to a lesser extent “Boys Don’t Cry” are obvious and awesome choices when I remember them, and I’ve also done “Pictures of You”, possibly “Love Song” and “Friday I’m in Love”, and once “End of the World” (which no one knew). But let’s be honest, some of those are karaoke downers, which is exactly why I wish they had this song. It’s fun, it’s upbeat, it’s crazy, it’s got some parts for Lance. Of course, if I really tried to embrace Robert Smith’s voice in it, it’s got some parts that could be a spectacular failure, and there’s a high chance few people would know this song either, but it’s definitely on the wanted list. Are you hearing me, Karaoke Champ, etc.?
Brilliant choice. I would be totally down with this. I’ve only ever attempted “Just Like Heaven” and I remember it being a colossal failure.
