To finish off May Summer Songs, yes, another Beach Boys song, and again, that’s probably too easy for this month’s theme. But what can I say? I loved this movie. Tom Cruise doing all sorts of awesome tricks with liquor bottles, the gorgeous (especially to my 15? year old self) Elisabeth Shue, “the guy from FX” (probably how I thought of Bryan Brown at the time) – this was one of the good ones. I don’t think I’ve seen it as an adult, so no idea if it still holds up.

I can’t remember if I had just the “cassingle” or the full soundtrack, but I was certainly a fan of this song. Now it’s just so embedded in me that I will sing along whenever I hear it, which is a common quality to most Beach Boys songs.

How have we never done this at karaoke?

About Chris

Chris is a digital producer based in Toronto, but don't worry, he's American. He enjoys karaoke and video games that are old enough to cost under $20. He used to be a master of the pit and live shows but can hardly keep up with anything new nowadays, so he usually goes to his happy place of media from his wayward youth. Chris is still trying to figure out what to be when he grows up.

  1. I’ve never seen the movie, mostly because of some hatred of have of this song. I’m not sure that hate is there anymore, but when it was popular, it was HUUUUGE and hugely annoying to me for some reason. Maybe it was just over-saturation?
