Even if you’re not the world’s biggest The Who fan (I’m not), chances are that you’ve heard the original version of this song during the payback scene from the film Rushmore  The mini-opera runs about nine minutes and is kind of all over the place.  I wouldn’t necessarily called it a fun-filled song (although *spoilers* there’s a happy ending), but there’s something about the way My Morning Jacket and Eddie Vedder bring this song to life that is just so joyful.

There’s nothing better in the world that watching people stoked on what they’re doing. These guys are totally having fun.  Look at ’em slogging it through all the movements in this song.   And starting at the the 4:48 mark in the video, this song totally qualifies for a #junepowersongs status.  I mean look at the Wookie who’s playing the drums… he is beating the living fuck out of his kit and having a blast doing it.

Plus, I’m pretty sure Theon Greyjoy is playing bass.

  1. I’m disappointed that there wasn’t an actual Wookie playing the drums. False advertising!
