I was a big Nitzer Ebb fan back in the day. In my memory, I was thinking that I didn’t really love “Ebbhead”, which this was from (and their follow-up “Big Hit” cemented the break-up), but looking at the tracklist, there are quite a few songs I actually really like, so time for a re-listen. Regardless, this song does it for me every time. It’s just filthy. It’s salacious. And that part around 3:00 where you think you’ve already experienced the max heaviness of the song and then it really kicks in always gives me chills.
This song came up on shuffle a few days ago which cemented the idea for this month’s theme. The CD single for this was, I believe, the second CD I bought after I got a portable CD boombox for a birthday present. The first was the MTV 120 Minutes “Never Mind the Mainstream Vol. 2” disc, because I knew I probably couldn’t afford CDs too often and so should maximize the artist variety (Lance can attest to my “thriftiness”). This CD had a somewhat similar mindset – there were quite a few mixes of the song on it, so I figured it was a good value. (Also to note – I had Nitzer Ebb’s “That Total Age” and maybe something else on record, plus “Belief” and “Ebbhead” on cassette, so I ran the full gamut of playback mediums.)
There’s an official video, but it’s got censored lyrics, which takes away from half the descriptors I just used, so this instead.

I could never get into Nitzer Ebb beyond Showtime and the various CD Maxi-Singles that came out around it.
