“Jane Says” is another one of those songs whose absence from the karaoke songbook is a total head scratcher.  Most places will have “Been Caught  Stealing” and that makes sense, but then they’ll also have some random track off of Strays but not “Jane Says.”   I mean  WTF is that about?

Look… someone even edited a karaoke version of it for YouTube to get their fix.

It’s kind of the perfect song for a Chris/Lance duet.  It’s not a duet, but it has obvious places to switch back and forth.  It’s kind of a medium range.  Come on KaraokeChamp, get with the winning team.

Chris and I once went to a go-kart arena to race a few laps.  It was totally fun and highly recommended, but the real highlight was finding a karaoke vending machine that would let you record yourself singing along to selected tracks.  They actually had “Jane Says!”  So we crowded into the booth (it was only meant to hold one) and sang our hearts out on “Jane Says” and some other assorted tracks. But we had “Jane Says.” We’re all stoked and excited, “WE FINALLY GOT TO SING IT!!” and on the drive back home we put the CD in to give it a listen.

“This is a really long intro.”

“Why is this intro so long?”

It was just the instrumental track. Apparently the microphone never worked.
