There are songs that make me wish I were a female, just so i could sing them. There are songs that aren’t duets but I convince someone to make it into one. And there are songs that seem like a good idea and then go horribly, horribly wrong. This one checks all three boxes.

Just listening to the intro of the video while writing this post reiterates there’s no way around it – I love this song so much. It’s just such a kick-ass song, and when we’re at karaoke with females who I think could nail it (sorry female karaoke friends, that doesn’t include all of you), I sometimes suggest they sing it. But, when it’s just Lance and I and I haven’t heard it in a while…well, sometimes I have to take matters into my own hands. In my head, I could (and yes, still can) hear how it could be awesome sung by the two of us as a duet, but it was fairly horrible. For one thing, Lance doesn’t adore the song quite as much as I do so didn’t know it as well, but also, we just couldn’t nail the high notes, so it’s probably been retired. Until we forget and have enough to drink at some point in the future.

Also, apparently this is a cover, and was also done by John Stamos in 1984 for his one season TV show called “Dreams”. I tried to track down a video but no such luck.

About Chris

Chris is a digital producer based in Toronto, but don't worry, he's American. He enjoys karaoke and video games that are old enough to cost under $20. He used to be a master of the pit and live shows but can hardly keep up with anything new nowadays, so he usually goes to his happy place of media from his wayward youth. Chris is still trying to figure out what to be when he grows up.
