This song was an early addition to my karaoke playlist and stayed there for two or three solid seasons.  It’s great track to force the night to catch its breath, and slow down the pace a bit.

It’s not a complete downer of a song, sure it’s probably about addiction but it’s also a love letter to a city.  I think people can relate to wandering the streets and finding comfort from an environment when they can’t find comfort in friends.  I feel like you could substitute karaoke room for city and the same would still ring true.

On more personal note, the best time to sing this with Chris present is when he’s had enough to drink so that he’ll get up and sing the chorus part with me, without being sober enough to realize he’s shredding his vocal chords.  Sometimes he also does a Flea dance, and that’s always a pleasure.
