The first time I heard this track I hated it.  And I continued hating on it for the next dozen or listens.  Then the video came out.

The video definitely sold me on the track and got it firmly lodged into my brain as a summer song.  Kids riding around in a car, having fun, causing mayhem and hanging out in a convenience store totally equals summer in my eyes.

Now I love the song on its own.  In fact when I hear it these days, I rarely think about those kids tossing chairs in the pool.  I think about what my high school friends and I did during long summer breaks and even though this song came years later, it somehow bridges the years in my head.

  1. Yes, great choice! This song is definitely ageless and relatable regardless of the year your particular summer of fun was. Which makes me think of my next entry in this theme, which also happens to be about a particular year…

Also, I remember when you first sang this at karaoke. You thought you blew it, but I think this song just elicits such good feelings that I thought it was great.
