I’ve got an admitted weakness for cookie cutter emo and/or punk bands doing cover versions of songs I grew up with, and this is a prime example. I don’t need to say much about this – I’ve already talked about how much I love the original, and I really love this version as well.

I had high hopes of doing this at karaoke, since it’s finally a version where I could take the lead, but when they finally added it it was a slightly different arrangement and totally threw me off. Alas.

I was going to include an acoustic version as well for the super fans (also a weakness of mine), but then saw this fan-made video for the song. I love the sincerity in it, even if the main character should get rid of the douchey hat as soon as possible.

About Chris

Chris is a digital producer based in Toronto, but don't worry, he's American. He enjoys karaoke and video games that are old enough to cost under $20. He used to be a master of the pit and live shows but can hardly keep up with anything new nowadays, so he usually goes to his happy place of media from his wayward youth. Chris is still trying to figure out what to be when he grows up.
